Year 4 2025 – 2026

Water bottles – Please ensure that your child has a labelled water bottle in school every day.  We have water coolers throughout school where your child can fill up their water bottles during the day.

School uniform – All pupils should wear their uniform with pride including the correct school shoes.  All items of clothing must be labelled with your child’s name. For further details about school uniform, look in the ‘School Information’ section of the website.

School dinners –  Dinners are available at a cost of £2.75 per day.  Please pay online via the arbor app for all meals in advance.

PE – ALL children should have the correct PE kit in school all the time. If you are unsure of what our PE kit looks like, please see the photo below.

Homework – This will be given out EVERY Friday and should be handed in by Tuesday at the latest.  Weekly homework will consist of targeted workbooks.  If your child is unsure about any of their homework, please contact a member of the Y4 team.

Times Tables – Children have a username and password to access ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ stuck in their reading records.  Children should be using a device (phone, tablet, laptop etc) to access this program for ten minutes each day.  Please see a member of the Year 4 team if you struggle to access this program.

Spellings – Children will be given weekly spellings to learn.  They will be tested on a Friday.

Reading – Children are expected to read at home at least four times a week.  Parents need to listen to their child and sign their diary.  Children need to bring their reading diary in to school each day.

Children need to complete a comment in their reading diary when they have read. They should still be heard to read regularly and parents need to complete a comment when this happens. Children may read on their own but then MUST have an adult to sign their reading diary. Children who have read will get rewarded.

Maths – Your child will be asked to complete a page of their CGP book. They will be told which page they need to complete on a Friday. Maths homework will be set on a Friday and needs to be completed by the following Tuesday.

All children need to continue to practise their times tables and associated division facts up to 12 x12. Children can visit Times Table Rockstars to practise these.

SPaG – Your child will be asked to complete a page of their CGP book. They will be told the page they need to complete on a Friday. SPaG homework will be set on a Friday and needs to be completed by the following Tuesday.

Spelling – (5 minutes per evening) – based on the phonic or spelling pattern focus that week. Spelling lists will be available on the Spelling Shed website and in homework books.

Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school.

School PE kit consists of blue or black shorts, a plain white or pale blue t-shirt and pumps. Trainers may be used for outdoor activities.

Long hair should be tied back for PE and earrings either removed or covered with tape from home.

If your child is unable to participate in PE due to a medical reason, please speak to the class teacher.

At the end of year 4, your child will be required to take an online National Statutory times table test. It is imperative that your child practises the times table whilst at home.

Times Table Rockstars is very similar to the test that children will undertake. Therefore, if your child practises on that, the test will become less daunting. As a reward, children will get a raffle ticket or 5 dojos for practising on TTR. Teachers will check each week to see who is been on. Children have been given their logins and have stuck them in their reading diarys.

Time to get your rockstar on, Year 4!!
